Tripura Government orders probe into baby deaths in hospital
Agartala, Mar 28 (UNI) The Tripura Government has formed a three-member committee to probe into the death of over 70 babies in the local Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in the past three months.
Official sources said here today that at least 29 babies had died in the hospital in the current month in addition to 25 deaths last month and 18 in January this year.
The sources said Health Minister Tapan Chakraborty convened a special meeting to discuss the situation and announced the formation of a three-member expert committee to look into the deaths.
The committee members would submit their reports to the Health Director within a week. The committee members visited the hospital yesterday.
The Opposition, Congress and the INPT, also raised the issue of baby deaths in the government hospital in the State Assembly.
