Sona Group inks product development pact with Russian cos

New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) The 180 million dollar Sona Group today signed an agreement with Russia's Power Electronics and Sibtehnomash to jointly conduct research on automotive electronics systems for the Indian market.

Under the agreement, the three parties will work together for developing automotive electronics system for the Indian market.

The agreement has been signed under the 'India Long term Programme (ILTP)' between India and Russia.

The Russian companies will provide technological know-how of the specialised products developed by them, and Sona will provide the application expertise.

The automotive products developed will be applied to Indian conditions.

''By leveraging the technical and research strengths of the two countries, we expect to develop next generation technology in the automotive segment at affordable cost,'' Sona Group Chief Operating Officer Kiran Deshmukh said.

''We are confident that with the proposed joint research work among the three parties, we will be able to make a significant contribution towards safe and environment friendly automobiles for the future,'' he added.

Mr Deshmukh said the various automotive applications that could be targeted through the agreement include steering systems, braking systems, engine management and safety-related device.
