Ramesh Medhekar elected Deputy Mayor of Mumbai
Mumbai, Mar 28 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator Ramesh Medhekar has been elected Deputy Mayor of Mumbai for the remaining term of civic body.
Election to the BMC is scheduled for February next year.
Of the 227 corporators, 218 exercised their franchise, while nine abstsain from during voting in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Ramesh Medhekar secured 136 votes, while Congress candidate Sheetal Ashok Mehtre bagged 80 votes, two votes were invalid.
Mayor Datta Dalvi announced the election of Medhekar as deputy mayor. He takes over from Dilip patel (BJP).
