Rajasthan's first 'Theme road' soon
Jaipur, Mar 28 (UNI) Heritage city Jaipur will soon convert one of its main thoroughfares into a special 'Theme road'- the first of its kind in the state.
The Sardar Patel Marg - one of the main arterial roads of the city will be adorned with sculptures by traditional artists of the state. The statues depicting the folk dance and instruments from Hadauti, Mewar, Shekhawati, Dhoondhari and other areas of the state will be placed along both sides of the road.
Theme roads refer to road strips that boast of a distinct and unique character. The Jaipur Development Authority involved in beautifying the city, has allocated Rs 1 crore for the beautification of the road.
A special lotus pond will be built at the crossing, said a JDA official. Metal, sandstone work and road paintings will beautify the entire area.
Street furniture and garden benches will be placed at various points on the road, allowing visitors to enjoy the ambience of the road.
Jaipur already has a road 'Mahavir Marg', which has a number of paintings on road safety done by school children. The road can aptly be called the 'school lane' with a number of schools on both sides of the road.
