Poacher killed in encounter

Daltanganj, Mar 28: A poacher was killed in an encounter with police inside the tiger project of Betla National Park in Jharkhand's Palamu district.

Palamu range DIG Ramlakhan Prasad said the body of a deer and a gun were recovered from the encounter site yesterday.

On a tip-off from the forest officials that some poachers had entered the park, police rushed to the area. Seeing the police, the criminals started firing and in the ensuing gun fight one paocher was killed, Mr Prasad said.
