Mamata puts up candidates in all seats

Kolkata, Mar 28 (UNI) Ending her wait for the Congress, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today put up party candidates in 252 seats for the coming Assembly elections, leaving 32 for NDA partner BJP and 10 for the Gana Front, the Opposition conglomeration that she leads.

''I have waited for the Congress for six months. But it has not responded to my call,'' she said.

Ms Banerjee had proposed formation of grand alliance of the Congress, Trinamool Congress and the BJP, which the Congress turned down. She had left 73 seats for the Congress.

However, keeping doors open for seat adjustment with, individual Congress candidates, Ms Banerjee said she would welcome any such move from any sitting MLA.

Asserting that the state would witness a change in the elections, she said the party would appeal to the people to cast their votes either in favour of the Trinamool or the Gana Front.

Of the 252 Trinamool candidates 32 were women and 42 were from minority communities, which Ms Banerjee described as the highest among all political parties.
