Mah Govt assures Rs 470 cr for rural development scheme

Mumbai, Mar 28 (UNI) Maharashtra Government today assured the Legislative Assembly that Rs 470 crore would be disbursed in the next one year for implementing the Yashwant Gram Samruddhi Yojana, a rural development scheme in Satara district of Western Maharashtra and Amravati district of Vidarbha Replying to a calling attention notice on the non-allocation of 85 per cent funds to the rural development scheme despite 15 per cent coming from people's contribution, Rural Development Minister Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil said the allocation of Rs 50 crore has already been provided in this year's budget, while Rs 200 crore provision would be made in June, Rs 100 crore in December and Rs 120 crore in March 2007 in the supplementary demands.

He also said the provision of 15 per cent ''Lok Vargani (people's contribution)'' is being discontinued from next year.

The Opposition members criticised the Government for the delay in granting the funds because of which, they said, developmental activities had come to a grinding halt.

Members, cutting across party lines from Amravati and Satara districts, came into the well of the House and raised slogans demanding immediate disbursement of funds for the scheme.
