INL to contest 3 seats, announces candidates
Kozhikode, Mar 28 (UNI) The Indian National League (INL) in Kerala will field its state general secretary P M A Salaam as the LDF candidate for the Kozhikode-II constituency in the April-May assembly elections in the state.
The party, which was allocated two more seats by the Opposition front, will also field senior leaders N A Nellikkunnu from Kasargod and Prof Abdul Wahab from Manjeri, INL national secretary Sulaiman Khalid announced at a press conference here.
In Tamil Nadu, the party will contest two seats -- Vaniyambadi and Palayamkotta -- in alliance with the ruling All India Anna DMK in the forthcoming assembly polls in the state.
The name of the candidates for the two seats would be announced later, he said.
The party would also contest eight seats in West Bengal in the coming elections in alliance with smaller parties such as CPI (ML) and Jamat-e-Hindu, among others.
The details of the constituency and candidates would be worked out later, he added.
