Indione hotels of IHCL to be renamed Ginger

Bangalore, Mar 28: The Indian Hotels Company Limited has renamed its Indione Hotels as Ginger.

The first of the smart basic hotels, Indione, was launched in Whitefield, the IT hub of Bangalore, in 2004 and the second was launched last week in Haridwar.

Mr Uday Narain, the Chief Operating Officer of Roots Corporation, running Ginger hotels, told newspersons here today that by the end of this year, Ginger hotels would be opened in Bhubaneswar, Pune, Mysore, Thiruvananthapuram, Durgapur and Goa. Work would also commence on hotels in Agartala, Tirupur, Pondicherry and Nasik within the next couple of months, he added.

Each hotel was expected to cost Rs ten crore, besides the land cost, he added.

Ginger hotels were simple, unique, reasonable and innovative, he said, adding that the Bangalore hotel was a prototype of the smart basic category of hotels.
