Incidence of AIDS declines in Gujarat: Minister
Gandhinagar, Mar 28 (UNI) The deadly AIDS in on decline in Gujarat with only 1,136 patients having been registered in the current year, as compared to 1,371 in 2004-05, according to Health Minister Ashok Bhatt.
In a written reply to a question of Mr Jitendra Patel (BJP) in the State Assembly, Mr Bhatt said the decline in the number of AIDS patients was as a reult of various preventive steps and awareness programmes taken up by the health department.
He said the State government had, with the help of NADCO and 200 other NGOs, launched a massive awareness campaigning targetting those who are the main carriers of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
