IBM Takes Pole Position In Server Revenues

Mumbai, Mar 28 (UNI) IBM has further consolidated its market leadership position in the overall server market in India in Q4 2005 with 10.1 points factory revenue market share lead over its closest competitor, according to IDC's Asia/Pacific Quarterly Enterprise Server Tracker, Q4 2005, February 2006.

IBM was the leading vendor in India in Q4 2005 across major market segments such as x86, non-x86 (UNIX), Linux and x86 blades in revenue terms.

IBM also led the overall disk storage with a 23.7 per cent market share and a 81.6 perent YOY growth, according to IDC's Asia/Pacific Quarterly Disk Storage Systems Tracker, Q4 2005, March 2006.

IBM's revenue share of the market increased by 6.9 points in Q4 2005 compared to Q4 2004.

In the x86 server space, IBM maintained its leadership position in revenue terms for the third consecutive quarter with a 39.8 per cent market share in Q4 2005, outpacing the year-on-year market growth.

With more than 10 points revenue market share lead over its nearest competitor, IBM in India was in a strong leadership position in the x86 server segment.

In the Linux and x86 blade servers' space, IBM dominated with a 41.1 per cent and a 78.4 per cent revenue market shares in Q4 2005, respectively.
