Hospitality and Tourism will hit India in a big way: Mittal

Bangalore, Mar 28: Bharti Enterprises Chairman and Group Managing Director Sunil Bharti Mittal today said Hospitality and Tourism will hit India in a big way providing opportunity for economic development of the country.

Delivering his Convocation address at the 31st Annual Convocation of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, he said ''Software, IT enabled services, telecommunication is done with. Hospitality and Tourism will hit India in a big way in a very democratic manner.

There going to be so many spin of industries''.

Mr Mittal said another sector emerging was Health care which is going to create great opportunity in service sector. Many countries have already sent patients for treatment because of cost factor and since we have talent and people to do the job.

He said ''India has been show casing for long time but it has succeeded now. It is Knowledge based society which is emerging into India that had the country great. We have great team with Prime Minister, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, Finance Minister all going round the world and taking about India. It is compelling demography of the country, which are making the world to take note of India.'' ''There are 630 million people in the working age in the country and this will increase to 870 million in next six years from now and make India continent of consumers,'' he added.

Mr Mittal further said, ''The Western World is aging. I believe that their demand moved. Give them 10 years they start struggling and 20 years from now, I have no doubt, that it is Indian hand and mind serving the world. It may be Indian doctors, nurses, going abroad and working.

IIMB Director Prakash Apte, in his address, said steps are being initiated to make necessary amendments in the Memorandum of Association with a view to expand and diversify the portfolio of academic, research, training, consulting and other activities both within and outside India. He said the Post Graduate programme in Software Enterprise Management launched last year in Chennai under ambitious plan to take IIMB education far and wide by leveraging technology, will now be extended to other cities.

Mr Apte informed that responding to the needs of a growing number of MBA aspirants and in line with the Government's keenness to see that the IIM education is available to a larger number of students, the intake for Post Graduate programme in management will be increased from the year 2006.

However, it will be in accordance with availability of faculty, he added.
