Eight people drowned in K'taka
Mysore, Mar 28 (UNI) Eight people, including five boys, drowned in three separate incidents in Mysore and neighbouring Chamarajanagar districts of Karnataka, in the last 24 hours.
Police said four boys drowned when they went for a swim in the Lingabuddhi tank on the outskirts of the city, yesterday. On a complaint lodged by their parents, police launched search operations and fished out the bodies this morning. The bodies were handed over to their parents after post mortem.
The victims were identified as Vikas (18), Gurpreet Singh (14), Shivakumar (12) and Jagadesh (13). Vikas and Singh had come from Hubli to their relative's house in the city to spend their holidays.
In another incident, three members of a family met with a watery grave at Arakalavadi tank in Chamarajanagar district, today. Siddu (14) slipped and fell into the tank while washing clothes along with his mother Ratnamma (40). Ratnamma and her mother, who rushed to his rescue, also met with their end.
The bodies were fished out later.
In the third mishap, Puttadevamma slipped and fell into Besalavadi tank and drowned. Her body was yet to be traced.
