Dictionary soon on Annamyya's works

Tirupati, Mar 28 (UNI) The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is planning to bring out a dictionary on Annamacharya's works soon, an official said.

Addressing a national seminar on Annamayya Sankeertanas here yesterday, TTD Joint Executive Officer (JEO) G Balaramaiah said a comprehensive study of Annamacharya's kirtanas was essential as they highlighted several social aspects along with spiritualism.

The JEO suggested that people from all walks of life, especially students, should study the saint's works to enrich their knowledge.

Sri Venkateswara Employees Training Academy Director B S Reddy said Annamacharya touched every aspect of human life and revealed the importance of spirituality through his compositions besides writing a number of songs on Buddha and other noble souls.

Sri Venkateswara University Vice Chancellor S Jayarama Reddy said a number of words used by Annamayya in his sankeerthans were not in use now. Hence, there was a need to bring out a 'padakosam' (dictionary) exclusively on Annamayya literature.
