Congress walk-out to protest Educational Tribunal Bill

Gandhinagar, Mar 28 (UNI) The entire opposition Congress led by Leader of the Opposition Arjun Modhvadia today staged a walkout in the Assembly in protest against the introduction of the Gujarat Eductionalal Institution Service Tribunal Bill in the State Assembly today.

The Opposition members demanded that the Bill be referred to a high-power Select Committee of the House to take the opinion of experts and incorporate their suggestions.

When their demand was rejected by Education Minister Anandiben Patel, they raised anti-government slogans and staged walk-out.

The bill seeks to empower the Tribunal whether or not to give permission to the aggrieved teachers to go to court if one is not content with the ruling of the Tribunal.

Thus, Mr Modhvadia alleged that this Bill would suppress the teaching community against injustice meted out to them.

Later, the House passed the Bill in their absence.
