CAT turns down Poll Commission's objection to Collector's posting

Kochi mar 28 (UNI) Rejecting the Election Commission of India's objections, the Ernakulam Bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) today upheld the appointment of Mr Raju Narayanaswamy as the District Collector of Kollam.

The Tribunal turned down the objection raised by the Election Commission that the posting was in violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

The government had given the posting to Narayanaswamy considering the appeal directed by the tribunal earlier. Though he assumed charge as district collector on March one, the Election Commission directed the government to keep the posting in abeyance till the end of the election process.
