BCC can be partners in Bihar's development : Kalam
Patna, Mar 28 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today said the Bihar Chambers of Commerce (BCC) can become important partners in development of the state by providing their creative leadership.
''Creative leadership means exercising the vision to change the traditional role from the commander to the coach, manager to mentor, from director to delegator and from one who demands respect to one who facilitates self respect,'' he clarified while redefining 'creative leadership'.
Addressing the members of the BCC, Mr Kalam said its members can contribute towards Bihar's development which was endowed with a great capital of knowledge, skills and above all, hardwork.
This 'capital' had spread to many parts of the country and also abroad, he noted and appealed to the members to take active part in carrying forward their state since the time had come for transformation of Bihar into a developed state before 2015.
For a prosperous and developed Bihar, the important thrust would be on the growth in the number of creative leaders and innovative organizations like BCC which could create wealth through dedicated entrepreneurship, he said.
Describing the members of BCC as the partners in the development of Bihar, Dr Kalam enumerated the missions to be undertaken for transforming Bihar into a developed state by 2015.
Agriculture and agro food processing should be given prime emphasis for development of the state, he said.
Increase in productivity in the agricultural sector, reviving the sugar industry, dairy development, promotion of food processing and horticulture leading to empowering and enrichment of 27 million farmers can become important tools for development, he added.
The step would involve production of 57 million tonnes of foodgrains, fruits and vegetables resulting in enhancement of states business to the tune of Rs 100,000 crore through processed food items in a decade.
