Bangladeshi gang of burglars busted, six arrested
New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) In its ongoing drive against criminals operating in the capital, police have arrested nine burglars and auto-lifters in separate raids. The arrested include six Bangladeshis and police claimed to have solved more than 37 cases of robbery and burglary all over the city.
The accused, aged between 24-28 years, were arrested yesterday from a park in Sarita Vihar area of South Delhi after a brief encounter, according to the police.
Three pistols, five cartridges, five knives and house-breaking implements were seized from their possession. Stolen goods worth four lakh were also recovered from them.
The gang, led by 25-year-old Mohammad Anwar alias Javed, had committed the 'operation' in Sarita Vihar, Badarpur, Sultanpuri, Rohini and Prashant Vihar.
During interrogation they revealed that they would regularly assemble at the park to chalk out the day's 'operation'.
In the second raid, police busted another gang of three auto-lifters from August Kranti Marg, near Siri Fort, and recovered 13 motorcycles from them.
They disclosed that they would sell the stolen motorcycles in Bijnor and Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh with the help of associates having links with the Transport Authority there.
