Aluminium production up, exceeds target

New Delhi, Mar 28 (UNI) The total production of Aluminium metal in the country during April 2005-February 2006 was estimated at 9,09,888 tonnes compared to 8,02,718 tonnes during the same period last year. It has also crossed the target of 8,71,807 tonnes, an official statement said today.

Out of the total production, NALCO produced 3,28,414 tonnes, BALCO 1,60,993 tonnes, HINDALCO 3,86.497 tonnes and MALCO 33,984 tonnes.

Last month, the total production of Aluminium in the country was 82,535 tonnes against a target of 86,377 tonnes. Of this, NALCO produced 28,205 tonnes, BALCO 18,252 tonnes, HINDALCO 33,153 tonnes and MALCO 2,925 tonnes.

NALCO, during the month, sold 62,672 tonnes of Alumina Hydrate and exported 8,497 tonnes of Aluminium.
