2 militants killed, 4 CRPF jawan injured, 7 ultras arrested in J
Srinagar, Mar 20 (UNI) Two militants were killed and four Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were among eleven people injured while security forces busted two hideouts and arrested eight persons in the Jammu and Kashmir overnight.
An official spokesman said security forces killed two militants in an encounter at Rajwara in the frontier district of Kupwara. Two AK rifles, four magazines, 105 rounds of ammunition and four hand grenades were recovered from the slain militants.
Officials said militants hurled a hand grenade towards security forces at Kathi-Drawaza Rainawari in the down town city this afternoon.
Ten persons, including 3 CRPF personnel were injured in the incident. The injured were admitted to different hospitals.
Another CRPF jawan was injured due to accidental fire at Khanyar, sources said adding he was admitted to hospital.
A defence ministry spokesman said troops of 55 and 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Jammu and Kashmir police Task Force, based on a specific information, launched a joint operation at Pulwama in south Kashmir early this morning.
A militant Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat alias Sakib of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) was arrested.
During the on the spot interrogation, the militant took the search party to a hideout in another nearby village Litter.
The arms and ammunition recovered from the hideout included two AK 47 rifles, one UBGL, two AK Magazines and 100 rounds of AK ammunition at Litter.
He later took the search party to Hussanpora where one UMG, one RPG and 100 rounds of UMG were recovered.
The apprehended terrorist has been handed over to the police at Pulwama, the defence ministry spokesperson said.
Official sources said seven more suspected persons were also taken into custody.
Security forces also busted a hideout at Poonch and recovered some arms and ammunition last night. However, no one was arrested.
