19 kg heroin seized on Indo-Pak border
Amritsar, Mar 28 (UNI) In a joint operation the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Border Security Force (BSF) seized 19 kg heroin worth Rs 19 crore in the international market, from close to the Indo-Pakistan border here this morning.
NCB, Zonal Director Srikant Yadav said in Chandigarh that one person identified as Avtar Singh, a resident of Khurmania village in Amritsar district, had been arrested in this connection.
He added that the heroin had been smuggled through the Kakkar Border Outpost (BOP), which is on the banks of the Ravi river, at a point where the river enters Pakistan. A revolver alongwith one magazine was recovered from the arrested person.
Avtar Singh is a cousin of notorious smuggler Pama of Havelia village who is at large. Pama had been involved in a number of cases of smuggling of heroin in the past.
