17 naxals surrender
Warangal, Mar 28 (UNI) Seventeen naxals including five Maoists surrendered before Warangal Range Deputy Inspector-General B L Meena and Warangal District Superintendent of Police M S Ravindra today.
Speaking to reporters, Mr Meena and Mr Ravindra said they included five CPI(Maoist)s, seven Prathighatanas, one Prathighatana (Godavari valley), three from Jana Sakti and one from Praja Panda.
The CPI(Maoist) members were Maddedu Area Deputy Commander of Chattisgarh state M Sambaiah (24), Warangal Mahadevpur Dalam member V Ramesh (21), Narsampeta Dalam Member G Narayana (25), Damodar Dalam member B Samaiah (25) and Jana Natyamandali member P Swaroopa (18).
From the Prathighatana group, Mulugu Area Commander G Ravi (26), Mulugu Dalam member G Radhika (22), Mulugu Dalam Member V Devender (24), Mulugu Dalam Member V Sudarshan (33), Mulugu Dalam Member C Rajamma (20), Muttaram Area Central Organiser A Ravinder (32) and Mulugu Dalam Member B Rama Devi (20) surrendered, along with Prathighatana Godavari valley Vijay Dalam member A Narasaiah.
The Jana Sakthi naxals were Mahadevpura Area Ramakanth Dalam members V Raja Babu (26), J Lakshamaiah (28) and C Samaiah (32).
Praja Dalam member Panda Venkanna also surrendred before the police.
The naxals were vexed with the movement's ideology and wanted to join the mainstream, police said.
