Shinde to discuss Indian power sector issues in US
Washington, Mar 25 (UNI) Minister for Power Sushil Kumar Shinde will participate in a roundtable discussion being organised by the USIBC and FICCI to discuss foreign investment and industry issues related to India's power sector during his visit to Washington DC from April 24 to April 27.
The Government of India has announced plans to implement five ultra mega power plants, each having a minimum capacity of 4,000 MW.
Mr Shinde will also visit New York, Chicago and Los Angeles where he will meet with the representatives of the US Industry to seek investment in the power and energy sector in India.
Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia is also slated to visit the US in the third week of April.
Dr Ahluwalia, who is expected to be here between April 19 to April 21, will deliver an address at American Enterprise Institute and attend meetings at the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
He is also scheduled to participate in a special session at the US India Business Council (USIBC).
