Security beefed up in Mayurbhanj bordering Jharkhand
Baripada, Mar 25 (UNI) Security has been beefed up in Naxal-prone areas of Mayurbhanj district situated in close proximity of the neighbouring Jharkhand following the pre-dawn swoop of the ultras' in the R Udaygiri town in Gajapati district yesterday police said.
Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police Ravi Kant told newsmen that the district's border adjoining Jharkhand's CPI(Maoist) hub have been put on ''high alert''.
Night patrolling by security forces, including Orissa State Armed Police (OSAP), local police and CRPF have been intensified in all the naxalite-prone areas, he said adding that patrolling in Baripada town has also been intensified.
Meanwhile, security in the Baripada circle jail was adequately beefed up as it housed the high profile inmates like Dara Singh, the prime accused in the murder of the Australian missionary Graham Stuart Staines and his two minor sons and six hardcore naxalites, who were serving different terms of rigorous imprisonment awarded on them by a Fast Track Court at Baripada.
