Independent candidate's house attacked

Kokrajhar, Mar 25 (UNI) Armed miscreants attacked the residence of an independent candidate of 28 Gossaigaon LAC in this district last night.

According to family sources, a group of unidentified men, armed with firearms and axes, attacked the residence of Mr Hopna Soren at about 2030 hours.

The miscreants broke open the door of the house but Mr Soren was not at home at the time.

When his brother-in-law Subhash Murmu tried to escape, the attackers fired at him. However, he managed to escape unhurt.

The miscreants also escaped under the cover of darkness.

Mr Soren was not immediately available for comment.

Police have started investigating the matter.
