Police said they took action under Election Commission observer Sudhir Kumar's directives after he received complaints of assault and intimidation on a Mamoodpur resident.

Police arrested Nikhil Roy, branch secretary of CPI(M) Naihati-Beejput rural zonal committee, under sections 506, 34 and 125 IPC.
