Chidambaram satisfied with arrangements for ADB
Hyderabad, Mar 25 (UNI)Union Finance Minister Mr Chidambaram today expressed total satisfaction over the arrangements the Andhra Pradesh government was making for the 39th Annual General Meeting of the Asian Development Bank(ADB) which will be attended by Finance Ministers from 40 countries.
The meeting will be held in Hyderabad from May three to May six.
Talking to newspersons after reviewing the arrangements with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, officials of the ADB and the Central and State governments, he said, the meeting was very important, as it gave an opportunity to showcase India and Hyderabad.
Earlier, he told the review meeting, he was confident that the State Government would efficiently handle a historic conference of this magnitude, as it had ably hosted the International Science Congress, Kalachakra, the Pravasa Bharati Diwas and the AICC.
Mr Chidambaram said the Prime Minister was appreciative of the Andhra Pradesh culture and hospitality. He had even appreciated the food offered to him in rural areas of the State on different occasions, he added.
Mr Chidambaram also mentioned that Dr Singh was also appreciative of the organisation of Science Congress, as it helped further the cause of agriculture.
The Chief Minister told the Union Minister that the US President George W Bush also wrote to him after his visit, expressing his appreciation of Andhra Pradesh culture and hospitality.
The new International Airport at Shamshabad would be operational by 2008, Dr Reddy added.
