Vikram Solanki to lead England in warm up tie tomorrow

Jaipur, Mar 24 (UNI) Vikram Solanki will lead England in the absence of skipper Andrew Flintoff in the warm up tie against Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA ) Invitation President's XI to be played at the SMS Stadium here tomorrow .

England media manager Avery told reporters after the team's practice session here today that Matthew Hoggard, Andrew Strauss, Geraint Jones and Paul Collingwood will be rested.

He said England will take the lone warm up tie prior to the commencement of one-day series at Delhi on March 28 seriously as the players would like to maintain the winning rhythm after their win in Mumbai Test.

Replying to a question, Avery said Solanki, who originally hails from Udaipur (Rajasthan), had been chosen to lead the team on the basis of his seniority.

He said it does not matter that many Asian faces are there in their team, because the selection of players in their country is done purely on merit basis.

Earlier, the visitors arrived here last evening while most of the players representing RCA had also reached. Mohammed Kaif and Suresh Raina are expected to reach here this evening.
