Teacher beats up student to death

Thanjavur, Mar 24 (UNI) The parents of a 12 year-old school boy along with the villagers staged a road block protesting against the alleged fatal assault of their son by his teacher in a government high school in Periakottaikadu village in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu.

The teacher allegedly beat up the boy, Vijay, with a stick last evening while enquiring into a complaint by another boy in the class that his Rs 10 went missing.

Vijay became unconcious and was rushed to a hospital where he died.

The boy's father, a farm labourer, staged the agitation along with others in his native village Venkarai Kottaikadu nearby.

The area's DSP who rushed to the village assured that action would be taken against the teacher.
