No MLA holds office of profit, clarifies Hooda; Sonia hailed

Chandigarh, Mar 24 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today clarified that no legislator of the Congress Party has been enjoying any office of profit.

The Chief Minister was talking to mediapersons shortly after presiding over a meeting of the Congress Legislative Party here in which the MLAs unanimously passed a resolution dedicating themselves to the leadership of Ms Sonia Gandhi and affirmed that each of them stood committed to the ideas and ideals as enshrined by her.

The resolution stated, ''by setting an unparallel example of resigning from Parliament and as the Chairperson of National Advisory Council NAC, Ms Sonia Gandhi has once again proved that ideas of selfless service, dedication to highest standards of public morality''.

''Gandhi-Nehru family's record of selfless service and sacrifice has been a beacon light for highest standards of public life''.

''Ms. Sonia Gandhi set new standards of political morality, when she graciously declined to accept the office of the Prime Minister of the country despite having been unanimously elected as leader of United Progressive Alliance (UPA),'' it said.

''In political and public life, the sacrifice of Ms Gandhi has been unmatched, unparalleled and laid down a new path of service above sacrifice,'' the resolution stated.

In the last one year, it added, the UPA regime has raced ahead on the path of all round progress and prosperity under the leadership of Ms Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The common man and the rural or urban poor have been made a part of the country's march on the path of prosperity by innovative schemes like National Employment Guarantee Programme, Jawaharlal Nehru Renewal Mission and Bharat Nirmaan Yojna, it stated.
