Last date for filing income tax returns in Kashmir till March 31

Srinagar, Mar 24 (UNI) In view of the 7.8 magnitude killer earthquake on October 8 last year, the last date for filing of income tax returns in the Jammu and Kashmir has been extended to March 31.

A spokesman of the Income Tax (IT) office here said that all the citizens can now file their returns of income tax for the Assessment Year 2005-06 (Financial year 2004-05) financial year 2004-05 on or before March 31 with the department.

He said the date was extended because of earthquake.

Therefore, he said, the Income Tax Department, Srinagar Range has asked all the tax payers to adhere to the date and submit their returns of income with the stipulated time to avoid any penal action.

For the convenience of the tax payers the receipt counter of income tax office will remain open on March 25 and 26 (Saturday and Sunday) for the same.
