Bangalore, Mar 24 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will soon announce a new agriculture policy incorporating various factors, including changes in credit policy, Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashampur informed the State Assembly today.
Replying to a question by Shivanand S Patil (Congress) during the question hour, he said the government had constituted a Committee, comprising experts in the field, to study comprehensive development of agriculture keeping in view the 'pancha sutra' announced by the Centre. The government would examine framing of a new policy after the Committee submitted its report, he added.
Mr Kashampur also informed that members of the National Commission for Farmers, headed by eminent agricultural scientist M S Swaminathan, had visited the state and collected information on agriculture to evolve a comprehensive policy at the national level.
