Kerala to tap booming health tourism

Kochi, Mar 24: The emerging trends, opportunities and challenges in India's health tourism will come up for discussion at the four-day Kerala Health Tourism (KHT)-2006 which has commenced here.

A two-day international conference and exhibition on health tourism is also being organised in this connection.

The conference will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here today. State Tourism Minister K C Venugopal will preside over the function.

Organised by the Kerala Chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) in partnership with State Tourism Department, KHT is being sponsored by various private hospitals in the state.

Being held in the context of the booming health tourism world wide, with relaxation of travel restrictions, Kerala's healthcare sector was making serious efforts at tapping the growing opportunities, Conference Organising Committee Chairman Philip Augustine said yesterday.
