Jaya to launch whirlwind campaign on March 31

Chennai, Mar 24 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa will launch her campaign for the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala on March 31.

According to the campaign schedule released by the AIADMK headquarters here, Ms Jayalalithaa would undertake a 33-day-long whirlwind tour till May 6, covering the two states and the union territory.

The AIADMK General secretary would begin her electioneering at Saidapet in the city on the opening day and cover Villupuram, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Karaikudi and Maduri in the first leg of the tour in seven days. Enroute Villupuram and Cuddalore, Ms Jayalalithaa would campaign in Pondicherry.

After a day's break, she would begin her second leg of the tour on April 8 from Madurai and cover Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari, Madurai and Theni in the next seven days.

In the third phase from April 16, Ms Jayalalithaa will devote three days to tour Theni district, considered to be the stronghold of the party. After visiting Pollachi, Ms Jayalalithaa is scheduled to address a public meeting at Chittur in Kerala on April 20.

After visiting Kerala, Ms Jayalalithaa would cover the nearby Pollachi, Coimbatore, Mettupalayam, Connoor, Udhagamandalam and Gudalur for the next three days, before taking a break on April 23.

After a day's rest, Ms Jayalalithaa would relaunch her campaign on April 24 from Coimbatore and cover Gobichettipalayam, Erode, Karur, Tiruchirapalli, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, Krishnagiri and Salem districts.

Ms Jayalalithaa would wind up her campaign by touring extensively in the city for three days from May four to May 6. She would end the campaign in Gummidipoondi assembly constituency, which was retained by the AIADMK in the recent by-elections.
