Collingwood calls on teammates to keep winning

Written by: Staff

New Delhi, Mar 24 (UNI) The 212-run win in the Mumbai Test saw England record their first Test victory on Indian soil in 21 years to square the series but an 'ambitious' Paul Collingwood insists his side has little time to relax as they need to keep winning.

The all rounder, who topped England's batting averages with 68, told BBC Sport, ''We know what an achievement this is. There's a lot of ambition in this England side.'' ''We won the Ashes last year but we don't want to stop there.

We want to kick on and become the best we can,'' he added.

Collingwood, however, said nothing can be taken away from the side, which was sans five frontline players and still came from behind to level the series in the most emphatic manner.

''We were inexperienced but we just went out there and gave it our best shot,'' Collingwood said.

''To get a win like that, in India, in those conditions, it's very hard to get better than that.'' The Durham player, who hit his maiden Test ton in the first Test in Nagpur, was happy with his own performance but said he was yet to cement his place in the side.

''It is a challenge playing out here against world class spinners, the conditions, the heat. I'm delighted, I enjoyed all three Tests.'' ''But you never know what will happen in the future. There are a lot of players to come back into the side so I will have to wait and see,'' he added.
