CM announces awards for Commonwealth Games medal winners
Chandigarh, Mar 24 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced a cash award of Rs three lakh to Jitender Kumar who won bronze medal in boxing in the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
Announcing this in the Haryana Assembly, Mr Hooda applauded the outstanding performance of athletes from Haryana in the games.
The chief minister has already announced a cash award of Rs five lakh to Kumari Seema Antil who had won silver medal in athletics.
He said the performance shown by the players and athletes of Haryana in the Games had been very commendable.
Mr Hooda also said that the Indian women's hockey team had reached the final and five players of team namely Rajinder Kaur, Jasjinder Kaur, Surinder Kaur, Rajni Bala and Mamta Kharab hailed from Haryana.
Similarly, Vijender Kumar and Akhil Kumar have reached in the final of boxing in the Games, he added.
Congratulating the players, Mr Hooda said Haryana is proud of its outstanding players and athletes who are earning a name for their country and the state through their excellent performance in various games at the international level.
