CII to rope in investors for N E Agri Expo

Kohima, Mar 24 (UNI) The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) is all set to bring more than 50 investors and 70 exhibitors from all over the country to participate in the North East Agri Expo 2006, which begins at Dimapur from March 27.

Deputy Director of the CII R Vithiyanathan, who is presently camping at Dimapur for last two weeks, informed that exhibits will vary from farming machineries to consultancy services in agriculture.The CII will also share its knowledge and know-how gathered out of its long experience of working in the agro and food sectors, holding technical conferences, investor meets and buyer-seller meets.

On the industrial development of the region, Mr Vithiyanathan said CII's role was to attract investments, which in turn will spur economic growth, encourage people-to-people contact and create employment avenues.

He said the service sector had the advantage to tap the vast potential of the region, which has the highest literacy rate in India with English speaking youth and added that though infrastructural bottlenecks still existed, development was taking place in the region.

Maintaining that investors and exhibitors were excited about their visit to Dimapur, the CII officer informed that special flights had been arranged for them, while the state government has set up a seperate committee to take the visitors on sightseeing and tours.
