CBI Special court frames murder charges against Telgi, others
Mumbai, Mar 24 (UNI) The CBI Special court today framed charges against Abdul Karim Telgi, the prime accused in multi-crore fake stamp case and three others in the murder case of his (Telgi) employee in 2001.
Additional Sessions Judge U D Salvi today framed charges under sections 143, 147, 148, 302, 120(b) of the IPC against Telgi, his nephew Tabrez and associates Uday Sawant and Sajid Khan for the murder of Christopher Bhatti.
CBI Special Public Prosecutor Pradeep Gharat said the deceased was an employee of Telgi, handling his fake stamp paper business Tamil Nadu. Bhatti had stolen Rs 2.5 lakh of Telgi and then went missing.
Telgi's associates then went there, located him and brought him to Mumbai. On August 27, 2001, Bhatti was brutally beaten-up by Telgi and his associates. He succumbed to the injuries, following which Telgi had asked his associates to dispose-off the body, which they threw in the Mahim creek.
When the fake stamp paper case was registered with Bandhgarden, in Pune, during the interrogation, the co-accused Sawant had disclosed that they had committed an offence of murder too.
Thereafter, they were arrested in this case by Sahunagar police station, Dharavi.
