4421 teacher posts vacant in different universities of Bihar
Patna, Mar 24 (UNI) The Bihar government today admitted in legislative council that 4421 posts of teachers were vacant in different universities of the state.
In reply to short notice question of Congress member Mahachandra Prasad Singh, Human Resources Development Minister Brishen Patel informed the house that 4421 posts of teachers under different categories were vacant in universities of the state.
He said services of retired teachers were being utilised due to shortage of teachers in different faculties of the universities.
''No teacher had been appointed by University Service Commission since 1997,'' he said, adding that steps would be taken to fill up the vacant posts of the teachers.
Chairman of the council Jabir Husssain asked the state government to ensure that vacant posts of teachers in universities be filled as early as possible.
In reply to another question of BJP member Ms Kiran Ghai, Science and Technology minister Dr Anil Kumar said there were only eight engineering colleges in residual Bihar after its division.
Steps were being taken to open new engineering colleges with the assistance of the Centre, he added.
