New Delhi, Mar 22 (UNI) UK-based hospitality chain Thistle Hotels is firming up plans to enter the Indian market with its premium international brand, Guoman Hotels.

''Our consultants are studying the market at present and we should be in a position to decide by the end of this year,'' Thistle Hotels area general manager Sanjay Nijhawan said here.

''We will set up hotels in three to four cities in one go and the hotels would cater to the upper end of the market,'' he added.

He said the company was looking at both options of greenfield projects and acquisitions in India.

India is an extremely important market and we have high expectations from it. We need to have the numbers here, Mr Nijhawan said.

He, however, did not reveal the investments lined up for the Indian foray. ''We are a private company and funds are not an issue,'' he said.

Meanwhile, considering India's huge potential of outbound business, the group along with UAE's Rotana Hotels today formally announced the appointment of Nijhawan Group as its India representative to target the growing outbound tourists.

Commenting on the tie-up, Thistle Hotels sales director Jennifer Charlton said, ''This tie-up with the Nijhawan Group ensures expert representation throughout key cities across the sub-continent.'' ''We have set a target of 2.5 million pounds to be generated from Indian travellers to the UK,'' she said.
