Ten arrested in 'Chetna' incident
Barrackpore, Mar 22 (UNI) Altogether 10 people were arrested so far for involvement in vandalising and setting afire a ticket checking train "Chetna" at the Barrackpore railway station in North 24 Parganas on March 20.
The incident caused disruption of train services in the Sealdah-Naihati section for about six hours.
According to GRP, miscreants were rounded up during investigation following the incident and prosecuted by the local police.
The incident occurred following assault of a ticketless traveller by a ticket examinar and an RPF personnel, discharging duty as staff of a mobile team.
The concerned ticket examiner as well as an RPF jawan were reportedly intoxicated, which sparked the disturbance and ended with partial burning of the compartment.
Departmental inquiry into the allegation had been ordered by the DRM, Sealdah division.
District police along with the GRP has intensified efforts to nab other miscreants. Meanwhile, Divisional railway authorities resumed special ticket checking, intensifying its strength in the Sealdah-Naihati section, moving with a fresh ticket checking train this morning, railway sources here said.
