TDP members suspended for two days for obstructing proceedings
Hyderabad, Mar 22: All opposition members present in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, including Leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu, were suspended today from the service of the House for two days for obstructing the proceedings.
The House, which had witnessed a 16-day marathon debate on Sripadasagar Project, once again plunged into pandemonium despite Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy conceding the Opposition demand of placing of files for their inspection.
While the Chief Minister accepted to place the files in the Chambers of the Major Irrigation Minister, the Opposition demanded placing of the files before the Speaker.
The CPI(I) CPI(M), TRS, AIMIM and BJP staged a walkout, protesting against the Government's refusal to place the files before the Speaker and its unilateral decision to suspend the Opposition without consulting anyone.
It was for the first time that Mr Naidu was suspended from the House. Though TDP members were suspended earlier, the leader of the Opposition was spared.
BSP affiliated member L Rajarao also registered a strong protest against the Government for not taking the House into confidence, before suspending the Opposition members.
Janata Party floor leader K Ramulu announced walkout of his party, protesting against the behaviour of TDP in obstructing the proceedings of the House.
