Kunjarani, Renubala Chanu awarded Rs 1 lakh each by Army Chief

Imphal, Mar 22 (UNI) Chief of Army Staff Gen J J Singh has awarded Commonwealth Games gold medal winners from Manipur Nameirakpam Kunjarani Devi and Yumnam Renubala Chanu with Rs one lakh each.

Kunjarani and Renubala Chanu won gold medals in 48 kg and 58 kg categories of the women's weightlifting competition respectively.

Major General Sumantara Roy, officiating IGAR (south) on behalf of the Army Chief, handed over the cheques to the family members of the two lifters at a function held at the headquarters of the IGAR in Mantripukhri here.
