Hyderabad, Mar 22 (UNI) Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu today alleged that Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Major Irrigation Minister P Laxmaiah had given contradictory statments on the estimates for the Sripadasagar-Ellampally project in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.

Releasing documents on the project estimates to the press here, Mr Naidu charged the government with awarding work to contractors without administrative sanctions. The government had hiked estimates from Rs 1,350 crore to Rs 1,750 crore without any abstract estimates,he alleged.

Reiterating the TDP demand that all files be placed before the Speaker, he accused the government of 'tampering with the files' and fabricating them, in which Rs 400 crore irregularities had taken place while awarding the work to the contractor. The high power committee on projects also accepted the irregularities, he said.

Stating the party would discuss the issue with other political parties and take a decision, Mr Naidu the government had lost credibility with the alleged increase in project estimates without any detailed project report.
