BJP holds demonstration on the first day of Assembly Session
Dehra Dun, 22 Mar (UNI) Thousands of BJP party workers under the leadership of state President Bhagat Singh Koshyari held demonstration near the state Assembly Vidhan Sabha on the first day of the budget session here today.
The Party workers organised rally from the parade ground and tried to reach the state assembly but were restricted before half a mile, as all the roads to Vidhan Sabha were barricaded by police.
When the workers tried to cross the barricades, they were dispersed by the police with the help of water cannons.
According to SP (City) NS Napchayal, 14 of the party workers were arrested by the police and taken to the police station. Later they were all released .
Mr Koshyari said the rally was organised to express BJP's anguish against inflation, corruption and unemployment in the state under Congress government.
He said that BJP was also unhappy over government's presenting vote of account in the budget session.
