UNI celebrates 45th anniversary of commencement of operations

New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) United News of India (UNI) celebrated the 45th anniversary of commencement of its operations today.

The main function was held at the News Agency's Headquarters here, where, in a message on the occasion, UNI Chairman Manoj Kumar Sonthalia wished the News Agency success on all fronts in the coming years.

Twenty four employees who have completed 25 years of service in the organisation were honoured on the occasion. While 12 of these employees are currently posted at Head Office, others are at stations outside Delhi.

Company's General Manager Mahinder Kumar Laul encapsulated the 45 years of the agency's existence as "eventful and glorious". Mr.

Sonny Abraham, Editor, UNI, Mr. Neeraj Bajpai, Joint Editor, UNI, Mr. Ashok Sharma, Editor, Univarta and Sheikh Manzoor Ahmed, Editor (UNI Urdu Service) also felicitated the employees.

Also present on the occasion were Mr. Thet Swe, Chief Editor, Myanmar News Agency, Mr. Soe Naing, Head of Myanma Motion Picture Enterprise and Mr. Win Maung of Myanmar Printing&Publishing Enterprise, along with Mr. S. Subramanian of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The three-member Myanmarese delegation is on an official visit to India to familarise themselves with the functioning of Indian News Agencies and replicate their experience in Myanmar.

Similar functions to commemorate the occasion were held at the agency's other offices across the country.

Shroti, Karamvir Singh, Shyam Lal, Ravinder Singh, Jagmohan Singh, Hari Jeenwal (all from Delhi); Nandu P. Patil, M.M. Thakur (Mumbai); N.N. Matlane (Aurangabad), G.D. Sawant (Panaji), Khelan Singh Wang (Kohima) , O.

Brajmani Singh (Imphal), D.P. Nair (Hyderabad), M.S. Prakash (Bangalore), A.K. Ahluwalia (Chandigarh), S.I. Bhavsar (Ahmedabad), Sharwan K. Tiwari (Lucknow) and T. Krishnaswamy (Chennai).
