RS adopts Sixth and Eighth Report of Ethics Committee

New Delhi, Mar 21 (UNI) Rajya Sabha today adopted the Sixth and Eighth Reports of the Committee on Ethics presented to the Upper House on December 15, 2005 and February 24, 2006 for consideration.

The House agreed with the recommendations contained in both the Reports of the Committee on Ethics presented to it.

Dr Karan Singh, Chairman of the Ethics Committee, moved the motions for adoption of Sixth and Eighth Reports of the Committee.

Earlier, Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal introduced a Bill further to amend the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Act, 2005 on behalf of Home Affairs Minister Shivraj Vishwanath Patil.

Mr Jaiswal also introduced a Bill to consolidate and amend the law relating to the governance of the Assam Rifles, an Armed Force of the Union for ensuring the security of the borders of India, to carry out Counter Insurgency Operations in the specified areas and to act in aid of civil authorities for the maintenance of law and order and for matters connected therewith.
