Rajasthan requests additional water from Punjab
Jaipur, Mar 21 (UNI): Rajasthan has requested Punjab to release water for seven days from the Pong dam to save the state's crops in the canal irrigated divisions.
Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha passed a resolution yesterday after Punjab failed to respond on Rajasthan's request to release 50,000 cusecs of additional water.
Punjab has refused to release water on the ground that water level in Pong Dam had touched 1301 feet mark and the state cannot allow it to go further down.
However, leaders cutting across party lines in Rajasthan contend that Punjab won't suffer as earlier also the water level at Pong Dam had gone down to 1260 feet and it had not affected Punjab's crops.
