Opposition walks out of Tripura Assembly

Agartala, Mar 21 (UNI) The entire Opposition today walked out of the Tripura Legislative Assembly for the day to protest the suspension of the Leader of the Opposition and another Congress member by the Speaker yesterday.

The Opposition Congress and Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) members wore black badges and shouted slogans in protest against the Speaker's decision to suspend Leader of the Opposition Ratanlal Nath and Congress Legislator Sudip Roy Barman.

After shouting slogans for sometime the Opposition members walked out of the floor for the day.

Mr Nath and Mr Barman were suspended yesterday by Speaker Ramendra Chandra Debnath for unruly behaviour.

The Opposition members yesterday met Governor Dinesh Nandan Sahaya and alleged that the Speaker had been playing a partisan role by curbing the democratic rights of the opposition.
