One held for ex UP MLA, murder
Lucknow, Mar 21 (UNI) The Police today arrested one person in connection with the murder of a former Uttar Pradesh MLA and his gunner last night.
Police said here today that a case had been resgistered against six persons in connection with the killing. One of the six named in the case has been nabbed, while a massive manhunt has been launched to arrest the remaining.
Unidentified car-borne miscreants had shot dead former Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) MLA from Aligarh, Malkhan Singh and his gunner under Kuwarsi area of Aligarh district.
Another person was wounded in the ghastly attack.
RLD is the major alliance partner in the Samajwadi Party-led Uttar Pradesh government.
Kanpur Zone IG Rizwan Ahmad said Mr Singh -- who is also the RLD district president -- was inside his house, when the assailants arrived in a red Maruti Zen and started firing indiscriminately.
The RLD leader and his gunner died of severe bullet wounds, while the criminals made good their escape.
Later, the district borders were sealed and the car used in the crime was recovered. Two mobile phones and two countrymade pistols were also found inside the vehicle, Mr Ahmad informed.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, has condemned the killing and directed the officials for the immediate arrest of the culprits.
